Paul Biya appointed Abdoullaye Daouda to Cameroon’s Constitutional Council to complete the term of Bah Oumarou Sanda, who died on August 7, 2026. The appointment followed his designation by National Assembly President Théodore Datouo, after consultation with the Assembly’s Bureau, under Article 51 of the Constitution. Daouda served as the National Assembly’s first deputy secretary-general from 2008 to 2025 and repeatedly acted as secretary-general between 2019 and 2023. His appointment preserves the Assembly’s representation on the Council, which oversees constitutional review and electoral disputes.
