Constitutional Reform in DRC: Felix Tshisekedi Does Not Rule Out a Third Term

During a press conference in Kinshasa on May 6, President Félix Tshisekedi stated that it would be impossible to hold the 2028 elections if the war in Eastern DRC does not end. He emphasized that the security situation in the North and South Kivu provinces would make organizing a vote technically and politically difficult. Tshisekedi compared the situation to Ukraine, where elections have been suspended due to armed conflict.
