Consumers express pessimism on macroeconomy, first time since Nov 2025

Consumers expressed pessimism about the macroeconomy, with an overall sentiment index of -10.3 points in March 2026, down from 0.8 points in February. The Economic Conditions index recorded -14.5 points, while the Family Financial Situation Index reached -14.7 points. Most households (66.4%) expect the Nigerian economy to deteriorate if prices continue to rise.
