Conventional taxes on petroleum products suspended for one month in North Kivu

The North Kivu provincial government has suspended all conventional taxes on petroleum products for one month to address the fuel supply crisis, especially in Beni where the price per liter has reached 10,000 Congolese francs. The decision, announced by military governor Évariste Somo Kakule, follows a strike in the oil sector and the blocking of fuel shipments at the Kasindi-Lubirigha border due to a dispute between the FEC and the ACCAD over the interpretation of tax laws. Audits are ordered to investigate the causes of the controversy and projects funded by these taxes, with an emergency meeting to consider measures such as lowering fuel prices.
