Convicted of murdering seven family members, he blames a witch doctor and begs forgiveness

Umar Auwal, known as “Breaker,” asked forgiveness from Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, and the people of the state. He was convicted of murdering Fatima Abubakar and her six children in January 2026 in Dorayi Chiranci, Kumbotso Local Government Area. In his final address to the court, he claimed a witch doctor had influenced him to commit the crimes and called for the person’s arrest. The court sentenced him to death seven times.
