Cooking gas price hike pushes FCT residents back to charcoal, firewood

The surge in cooking gas prices in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has forced many households and businesses to revert to charcoal and firewood. The price rose from about N1,200 per kg to N2,000 per kg, according to NAN. Food vendors like Mrs Mayo Akinpelu in Gwarimpa and Ms Victory Samson in Dutse reported that high costs cut their profits and forced them to stop using gas. A 12.5kg cylinder now costs N25,000.
