On September 4, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 'Correct the Map' resolution, supported by Togo and the African Union, aimed at promoting a more accurate cartographic representation of Africa. This resolution, passed with 164 votes in favor and one against, encourages the use of equal-area projections to reduce distortions. It raises questions about the impact of mapping on perceptions of Africa and its implications for education, culture, and geopolitics.
