Côte d’Ivoire: A national mobilization against illegal fishing

On June 5, 2026, on the International Day against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing, Ivorian Minister of Animal and Fishery Resources Sidi Tiémoko Touré reaffirmed the country's determination to protect its waters. He recalled reforms under President Alassane Ouattara, including strengthening the Fisheries Surveillance Center and extending satellite monitoring. Côte d’Ivoire cooperates with the European Union through a sustainable fisheries partnership agreement and with the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea for joint patrols.
