FIRCA in Côte d’Ivoire aims to increase shea nut production to secure supply and boost income for over 250,000 women, focusing on domestication, developing high-yield varieties, and establishing plantations. Since 2014, research has enabled grafting techniques that allow trees to produce fruit in just four years. Currently, collection mainly relies on wild nuts, but land pressure threatens these resources, especially in Tengrela, Korhogo, and Bouna. FIRCA is working with the Cotton, Cashew, and Shea Council to assess and preserve these resources.
