Côte d'Ivoire: Starlink obtains its license, 5G to be launched from July 2026

The Ivorian government announced on June 5, 2026, the granting of a license to Starlink to provide fixed satellite internet from July 2026, targeting rural areas, schools, and health centers. Simultaneously, the 5G launch is scheduled for July 2026, progressively covering cities with over 25,000 inhabitants. Minister Djibril Ouattara stated that Starlink's license is granted for an initial period of twelve months, allowing service quality evaluation. These measures are part of a strategy to reduce the digital divide.
