Court backs micro-lenders in high interest loan disputes

The High Court in Eldoret ruled that consumer protection laws cannot be used to avoid valid loan obligations after default. The court dismissed Ahmed Abubakar's appeal, allowing Momentum Credit Limited to repossess a jointly registered vehicle due to unpaid loan arrears. The repayment terms had been clearly disclosed in documents signed by both parties.
