A Nakuru court canceled a title deed after finding that the register was opened two days after William Kiiru's death on August 16, 1971. The court ordered the disputed land to be returned to Kiiru's estate, declaring the transfer to Fredrick Mbui and John Njogu unlawful and fraudulent. Julius Wambugu, acting as the legal representative of the estate, discovered in 2014 that the property was registered in Njogu's name and reported the matter to the police.
