Court declares Adenike lawful widow of Tosin Ajayi, rejects Helen Prest's claim

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has declared Mrs. Adenike Ajayi as the sole lawful widow of the late Dr. Tosin Ajayi, founder of First Foundation Hospital. Justice Oluwayoyin Odusanya rejected the claim of former beauty queen Helen Prest, who alleged she had entered into a Kalabari customary marriage with the deceased. The court held that the monogamous marriage between Adenike and Tosin Ajayi was never dissolved, and separation does not automatically end a legal marriage. The ruling ends a nearly five-year legal battle over the deceased's estate.
