Court Dismisses MP Gikaria’s Bid to Block IEBC’s Ksh 2.5M Fine Over Ol Kalou Remarks

The High Court upheld the IEBC's decision to fine Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria Ksh 2.5 million over remarks related to the Ol Kalou by-election. Justice Wilfrida Musyoka dismissed Gikaria’s application challenging the decision, stating he did not meet the legal threshold for judicial review. The ruling also lifted temporary orders that had suspended the enforcement of the fine, and IEBC was instructed to ensure Gikaria complies with the sanctions within the set deadlines. The sanctions stemmed from inflammatory statements Gikaria made during the campaign about voter bribery, cash distribution, and the use of national identity cards.
