Court judgment validated Blue Silks rank - ALDRAP insists, counters LPPC

The Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) asserted that a Federal High Court judgment validated the Blue Silks rank, introduced as an alternative to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank for non-litigation lawyers. In response to the LPPC's condemnation, ALDRAP referenced a judgment by Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, stating that the LPPC cannot penalize lawyers accepting the Blue Silks rank, as it is not mentioned in the Legal Practitioners Act of 1962. A judgment is awaited in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by ALDRAP following sanctions threatened by the NBA.
