Kenya’s High Court summoned Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to explain the disappearance of Tanzanian activist Twaha Mwaipaya, who has been missing since October 25, 2026. Justice Alexander Muteti asked whether state agents may have abducted Mwaipaya and returned him to Tanzania without due process, and criticized the State for failing to account for him. The court said Kanja, as head of the National Police Service, was best placed to respond and declined to summon DCI Director Mohamed Amin separately. Vocal Africa, represented by lawyer Martha Karua, brought the application.
