Court Voids New Development Approvals in Nairobi’s Parklands

Development approvals for properties in Parklands issued from October 15, 2026, have been declared null and void. The Parklands Residents Association said the ruling followed Nairobi City County’s failure to meet court deadlines to establish a planning forum and publish development plans. The Environment and Land Court judgment, issued on October 14, 2025, covered permissions including building and demolition work, land-use changes, subdivisions, and lease renewals. The court also found that the handling of developments in the area since August 2019 had violated residents’ rights to human dignity and a clean and healthy environment.
