Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has received an order allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest after his party paid a 50 million ringgit ($12m) fine. His lawyer, Farhan Shafee, said he would deliver the order to Kajang prison and that the transfer could take place on Friday. Najib has been jailed since 2022 for corruption and embezzlement linked to the 1MDB state fund, and received a royal pardon from King Sultan Ibrahim in September. The decision could stir Malaysian politics, as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has publicly raised concerns about the pardon.
