Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal career comes to an end

Cristiano Ronaldo announced his international retirement in a farewell message published Thursday, saying it was time to hand back Portugal’s No. 7 shirt. His national-team career began in August 2003 and ends with 234 appearances and 146 goals; he played in six World Cups and won Euro 2016 against France. He will continue playing for Al-Nassr as he pursues his 1,000th career goal, and could end his club career at the end of the season.
