Cristina Nord, director of the Goethe-Institut, has been hiking since her mid-20s and says she is deeply passionate about it. She has climbed Mount Ololokwe, peaks in the Alps and Mount Satima. Her next ambitions are Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya and Mount Elgon.

Igboho seeks a greater security role for traditional rulers

Sunday Igboho called for traditional rulers in Nigeria’s South-West to take a stronger role in security and said the Iru Ekun network has attracted 20,000 volunteers in Oyo State. Twenty-eight-year-old F. Touré was found dead in her room in Darou Salam 4, Yeumbeul, at around 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026. Her roommates, alerted by children crying and screaming, found her on the floor with an electrical wire in her hands and visible blood near her left shoulder. Initial examinations found burns on her left breast, and investigators are considering electrocution after she may have tried to connect a wire to a television. An investigation is underway, and medical findings are expected to confirm or rule out that possibility.
