Cross River couple sentenced to 15 years each for child trafficking

A Federal High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, sentenced Esther Ini Udo and her husband Eyo Stephen Udo to 15 years in prison for child trafficking. They were found guilty of buying and selling infants for exploitation, violating Nigeria's Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act. Esther sold her own newborn for N300,000, while the couple also purchased a one-year-old child for N150,000 and later resold it for N400,000. The court directed NAPTIP to intensify efforts to apprehend an accomplice, Oluchi Judith, who is currently at large.
