Cybersecurity: Abidjan becomes US headquarters for securing West Africa

A Security Operations Center (SOC), equipped with an incident response team, was inaugurated on November 5, 2026, in Marcory Zone 4, Abidjan. Established by Cybastion and Cisco with an investment of several million dollars, it is intended to strengthen cyber-threat preparedness and response in Côte d’Ivoire and West Africa, while serving as a regional cybersecurity training center. The inauguration was attended by Minister Djibril Ouattara, other Ivorian government officials, and delegations from Gabon, Kenya, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Liberia. The Africa Digital Power program, led by the TIA Foundation and Cisco, also aims to train 200,000 people in digital skills and cybersecurity by 2030.

At the Néo Charging station operated by Petro-Ivoire, electricity costs 230 CFA francs per kWh, and a full recharge costs 12,000–14,000 CFA francs depending on the vehicle. In November 2026, the maximum price for unleaded petrol is 905 CFA francs per litre and diesel 725 CFA francs, while filling a conventional vehicle can cost more than 40,000 CFA francs.
