Cyril Ramaphosa orders an emergency plan against violence towards women

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced emergency measures to improve women's safety following the discovery of 11 women's bodies in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, since mid-July. A multidisciplinary intervention team has been established to investigate, with four people currently in custody. The president ordered each municipality to conduct safety audits, identify dangerous areas such as poorly lit streets and abandoned buildings, and strengthen efforts against alcohol-related violence.
