Mother and Child Killed as Two Container Trucks Overturn in Lagos

A mother and her child died when two trucks carrying 20-foot containers overturned at Mile 2, near Freeman Market, on the way to Apapa in Lagos. The victims were trapped beneath the trucks and containers; LASTMA rescue crews cleared the scene, while traffic was diverted through a service lane. LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki called for an investigation into possible causes, including mechanical failure, overloading, improper cargo distribution or driver negligence. The victims’ remains were taken to the police mortuary in Yaba.
