Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games: Hygiene Brigade launches disinfection and pest-control operations

Dakar’s Regional Hygiene Brigade began disinfection and pest-control operations at the Youth Olympic Games venues on October 27, 2026, starting in Diamniadio and continuing in the Dakar department the following day. Supervised by Captain Idrissa Ndiaye, the measures aim to protect athletes, foreign delegations and the public amid the end of the rainy season and reported outbreaks of conjunctivitis and diphtheria. The health plan also includes hygiene checks at accommodation facilities, food inspections and controls on public roads near competition venues. The operations started despite delays to the original schedule.
