Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics: Refugee athletes make history

The first Refugee Olympic Team is competing at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly, Senegal. Created by the International Olympic Committee and managed by the Olympic Refuge Foundation, the team includes athletes living in refugee camps in Kenya and Uganda, competing in judo, taekwondo and athletics. Arno Yafunga, a young judoka living in Nairobi, says sport helps him avoid gangs and risky situations. He urges young refugee athletes to keep moving forward and not give up.
