Dangnivo case: Codjo Alofa dies after a stroke

Codjo Alofa, a central figure in the case surrounding the disappearance of unionist Pierre Urbain Dangnivo, died on October 26, 2026, from a stroke, according to Bip Radio. Held at Cotonou’s civil prison since 2010, he had been transferred to the CNHU a few days earlier and admitted for emergency care. In July, prosecutors sought a 30-year prison sentence and 150 million CFA francs in damages, alleging that Alofa was an accomplice to a murder. Dangnivo’s family disputes the identification of a body presented as the unionist’s and the responsibility attributed to Alofa; the case has yet to reach a definitive conclusion.
