Data Centers: Elon Musk Could Match Google’s Cumulative Capacity in 18 Months

According to an analysis published by SemiAnalysis in early November 2026, SpaceX could reach about 13 GW of data-center capacity by the end of 2027, matching what Google built between 1999 and 2026. The projection combines 10 GW of new facilities targeted by Elon Musk for 2027 with roughly 3 GW at the Colossus 1 and 2 sites acquired with xAI. SemiAnalysis has identified more than 9 GW of potential capacity, including 3.6 GW under construction, but power supply, permits, grid connections and access to graphics chips remain obstacles. The comparison is uncertain because Google does not disclose its data centers’ electrical capacity, and gigawatts measure power rather than computing output.
