DCI Expands Same-Day Police Clearance Certificates to Diplomats

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has expanded access to same-day Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) for diplomats, foreign nationals, and international mission staff through a new biometric system at the Diplomatic Police Unit headquarters in Nairobi. This service allows applicants to obtain PCCs locally without visiting DCI headquarters or Huduma Centers. The Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS), launched on July 23, 2026, has reduced processing time from 14 days to same-day issuance and increased record handling capacity from 2 million to 10 million, with daily search capacity rising from 4,500 to 20,000.
