Delft dog impaled on gate spike after fireworks panic

Max, a dog in Delft, impaled his abdomen on a metal gate spike after reportedly panicking during fireworks. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA dispatched a collection officer to take him for emergency treatment at TAH, accompanied by an escort from the Law Enforcement Animal Control Auxiliary Unit. Eight SPCA inspectors were on duty across Cape Town to help animals frightened, injured or displaced by fireworks. The organisation warned of the risk of serious accidents and cited a Lavender Hill dog that was euthanised after fleeing fireworks and being attacked by pit bulls.
