Democratic progressive wing notches win in California Central Valley

Randy Villegas, an educator and the son of Mexican immigrants, defeated Republican incumbent David Valadao in California’s 22nd congressional district. Backed by figures including Senator Bernie Sanders, Villegas campaigned against rising living costs, healthcare cuts and immigration raids.
