Deploy 4,000 influencers to explain Mary Habila’s death instead — Odinkalu to Umahi

Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof Chidi Odinkalu, criticized the Nigerian government's plan to deploy 4,000 social media influencers to showcase infrastructure projects under President Bola Tinubu. He suggested that these influencers could instead be used to address questions surrounding the mysterious death of Mary Habila, a medical professional who died after accompanying Works Minister David Umahi to his residence in Ebonyi State. Habila died on June 27, 2026, at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Uburu, with a forensic autopsy requested by Umahi that was opposed by her family.
