Dialogue on the Demographic Future: UNFPA Puts Youth at the Center of Decision-Making

On November 3, 2026, UNFPA opened a dialogue at the Ivotel Plateau, bringing together young people from several African countries, institutional leaders and regional representatives to discuss demographic resilience, prosperity and inclusion. Dr Ibrahima Dosso, representing the Minister of Youth, and UNFPA Executive Director Dr Diene Keita urged young people to take part in public decision-making and make their aspirations heard. UNFPA Regional Director Dr Sennen Hounton said the demographic dividend depends on investment in education, health, training and employment. ECOWAS representative Nassirou Bako-Arifari also participated in the discussions.
