Dilolo: violence after death of a detainee

In July 2026, the town of Dilolo (Lualaba) experienced violence after a detainee's death. A man died during transfer to hospital after falling ill during questioning. The crowd ransacked and set fire to the peace court and prosecutor's offices, then attacked the prison, freeing six detainees. Assistant administrator Socrate Tshikos announced an investigation and called for calm.
