Diverting tithes, offerings, others to private businesses criminal offence – EFCC warns

The EFCC has warned religious leaders against diverting tithes, offerings, zakat, and other religious funds into private businesses. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede stated that such diversion is criminal and urged religious institutions to establish compliance mechanisms to safeguard entrusted funds. He emphasized that religious leaders should lead by example in fighting corruption, as followers emulate their conduct, and criticized places of worship that display unexplained wealth.
