‘Don’t bring your camera’: Filmmakers face extortion in Lagos

In Ajah, men demanded 100,000 naira from Nurudeen Sanni and his crew before allowing them to continue filming a documentary. A confrontation followed, and one crew member was stabbed in the neck and seriously injured. Filmmakers, content creators, photographers and journalists say they face threats from agberos demanding money when they film on Lagos streets. Music video director TG Omori and creator KieKie have also described men demanding large payments during shoots.
