DPG: The New Offensive by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has summoned the National Assembly for an extraordinary session starting September 1, 2026, for the Prime Minister's General Policy Declaration (DPG), according to decree n° 2026-1530. However, the Assembly's Bureau contests this summons, stating that the date must be set by the Conference of Presidents and that the eight-day notification period was not respected. In response, the government defends the legitimacy of the summons and the Prime Minister's initiative, which proposed this date in a letter on August 24.
