DR Congo: JED warns of threats against journalists and disinformation

On the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the NGO Journaliste en danger (JED) warned that the media environment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is deteriorating. Its annual report, published on November 2, examines rumors and disinformation about Ebola, as well as threats, economic pressure and assaults against journalists, including incidents in Mwenga and Kalemie. JED calls for a national journalist-protection mechanism and investigations into attacks, along with better access to public data and transparent financial support for local media.
