DR Congo: National Assembly adopts resolution to admit five figures, including Etienne Tshisekedi, to the Order of National Heroes

The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s National Assembly adopted a resolution on November 6 proposing the posthumous admission of Kimpa Vita, Simon Kimbangu, Étienne Tshisekedi, Christophe Muzihirwa and Emmanuel Kataliko to the national Order of Heroes. The measure aims to recognize their contributions to the country’s history and preserve their memory as part of its national heritage. The resolution must still be examined by the Senate and then submitted to the president for final approval. The original proposal by lawmaker André Mbata named only Kimpa Vita, Simon Kimbangu and Étienne Tshisekedi; the two archbishops were added later.
