DRC: 69% Poverty, 40% Youth Unemployment, World Bank Consults for 2027-2036 Plan

In Kinshasa, the World Bank held a sectoral consultation on social protection on September 23, as part of preparing the Country Partnership Framework 2027-2036. The meeting brought together government representatives and partners to review past interventions and set future priorities, including social protection, human capital, economic inclusion, and employment. Despite an average annual growth of 6.5%, mainly driven by the mining sector, poverty remains high at 69% in 2024, with 40% of youth unemployed, due to limited economic diversification, low electricity access, weak human capital, governance issues, and conflicts.
