DRC: A lawyer contests the proposed law on the referendum and challenges its initiator in a public debate

Congolese lawyer Me Zeph Zabo contested the constitutionality of the referendum law in an open letter to Deputy Paul-Gaspard Ngondankoy. He argues that this law could allow for a constitutional change and bypass provisions protecting presidential terms. Although the law was validated by the Constitutional Court with reservations, Me Zabo believes it should have been declared unconstitutional. He cites articles of the Congolese Constitution that prohibit the revision of certain fundamental provisions.
