DRC: after the agreement with FDLR, Kinshasa tells the UN that « the issue can no longer justify the presence of foreign military forces »

Rwandan Democratic Forces for Liberation (FDLR) issue was addressed by the Congolese Prime Minister Judith Suminwa at the UN General Assembly, emphasizing measures taken including a protocol signed on May 30, 2026, for disarmament and repatriation. She highlighted the repatriation of 120 FDLR-associated individuals on September 8 as a concrete step. Suminwa stated that this progress means the FDLR issue can no longer justify foreign military presence in the DRC and called for coordinated peace mechanisms involving Washington, Doha, and the African Union.
