DRC and Burundi reaffirm strengthening of military cooperation

The bilateral military cooperation between the DRC and Burundi was reaffirmed during the 18th ordinary session of the African Union's specialized technical committee on defense held in Bujumbura. Defense ministers Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita and Marie-Chantal Nijimbere discussed strengthening the alliance to combat rebel movements threatening the stability of both countries. They also emphasized the urgency of an African response to insecurity in Eastern DRC and the importance of respecting national sovereignty.
