ASADHO, through its president Maître Jean-Claude Katende, reported at the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva that human rights violations are ongoing in the DRC, especially in areas controlled by AFC/M23 where journalists and human rights defenders face harassment, and in non-occupied zones where freedoms of expression and assembly are restricted. He highlighted that the conflict, described as unjust and attributed to Rwanda, results in abuses against civilians, particularly women and children, along with increased sexual violence and illegal resource exploitation.
