DRC: Bukavu buries 27 students killed in the fire at two schools

On September 10, a fire engulfed two schools in Bukavu, resulting in the deaths of 27 students, including 13-year-old Tuonane Machara wa Kidogo. Students attempted to escape, causing a stampede that led to trampling and asphyxiation cases. The funerals took place at the Ruzizi cemetery, attended by families and local officials. Corneille Nangaa, political coordinator of AFC/M23, called for enhanced school security and fire prevention measures.
