DRC: Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo denounces the deadlock in national dialogue and Tshisekedi’s red lines

In Assisi, Italy, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo called for inclusive political dialogue to help end the DRC’s security crisis, which has lasted more than 30 years. He denounced the deadlock and preconditions that decide who may take part, saying military force alone cannot bring peace. A dialogue initiative proposed by the Catholic and Protestant churches is intended to bring the parties to the conflict together and rebuild national cohesion. Félix Tshisekedi had said the talks should be held in the DRC under the leadership of state institutions, beginning with consultations in all 26 provinces before national meetings in Kinshasa.
