DRC-Ebola: death toll exceeds 4,000, according to the National Public Health Institute

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has resulted in 4,018 deaths out of 8,300 confirmed cases across seven provinces, according to the National Public Health Institute. The case fatality rate is 48.4%, with 2,162 recoveries and 842 patients in isolation or hospitalized. The affected provinces include Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Bas-Uélé, Haut-Uélé, Tshopo, and Sud-Ubangi. The figures are still subject to change as data is validated and consolidated.
