DRC: Ebola outbreak exceeds 8,000 confirmed cases and approaches 4,000 deaths

The Ebola outbreak in DRC has surpassed 8,000 confirmed cases, with 8,067 cases and 3,901 deaths reported as of September 26, representing a 48.4% fatality rate. The Ituri region accounts for over three-quarters of cases, with 6,155 infections and 2,834 deaths, while North Kivu has 1,523 cases and 906 deaths. On September 26, 78 new cases were confirmed, including 57 in Ituri and 17 in North Kivu, with 49 deaths recorded, 34 of which were community deaths. Since the outbreak began, 63 health zones across seven provinces have been affected, with no new zones reported on that day.
