DRC: Fighting Continues Despite Peace Agreements, Notes AU President

Fighting continues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo despite peace agreements, stated Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye at the 21st extraordinary session of the African Union in Luanda. He emphasized the need to act on two fronts: preventing new conflicts and resolving existing ones, while calling for addressing the root causes of violence. Ndayishimiye also stressed the importance of investing in reconciliation and disarmament after peace agreements are signed.
