DRC flight suspension and Uganda border curbs isolate Ebola-hit Bunia

Congolese authorities have suspended all flights to and from Bunia to contain an Ebola outbreak declared in mid-May 2026. This measure aims to prevent cross-border spread of the epidemic and ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff. Although exceptions are allowed for humanitarian and medical flights, the closure of Bunia Airport causes significant disruptions, especially since the road is virtually impassable.
